Website Design and Production
What does it cost and how long does it take to create a custom website?
Most companies are surprised at how quickly and reasonably we can establish their presence on the internet with a custom designed website. A small site (one to ten pages) can be up and running in one or two weeks and cost between $1,000 and $2,500. An e-commerce site with 2,500 products might take two months and cost $10,000 to $20,000. Once your site is established, you will want to include periodic updates to certain pages to keep them current and fresh. A website should not be a static document.
Here are typical costs associated with a new website:
Strategy, design, production and upload: $750 - $3,500 (This really depends on number of pages in the site. A page generally runs from $50 to $125. Generally, the first page includes overall site design and costs around $750.)
ISP Usage Charge with a Domain Name: Varies by provider
Cost to register your Domain Name: Varies by registrar
Updates and changes to Web Pages: $70/hour
Electronic commerce: Quote based on the number of items to be sold, number of pages, graphics, etc.
Flash or Animation: Quote based on size or complexity.
SEO: Search engine optimization quoted based on size of site.
What's the Design and Production Process?
Here are the steps involved in producing your site.
1. Define the Specifications
First we analyze your goals and the project benefits. We determine your expectations and the desired site content. An overall strategy, time line and cost estimate for production is established.
2. Full Requirements Analysis
Next we create a conceptual design and layout for approval. This is an iterative process and we work with clients until they are happy with the proposed look and feel of their sites.
3. Produce the Site
All code is written, graphics are produced and hyperlinks are developed. Any custom software is added at this point.
4. Review with Client
The site is uploaded onto our server for the client to review at any time. Revisions plus new or modified requirements are obtained from the customer. Again, this is an iterative process and user feedback is again integrated into the site.
5. Full Testing and Debugging
The site then undergoes complete testing and any additional revisions are incorporated. Final approval is obtained from the client.
6. Upload
The final version is uploaded to your server. This entire process can take from several weeks to months, depending on the complexity of the project.
7. Marketing Program Review
The clients ongoing marketing programs are examined and modified to take advantage of the new media.
